Matthew Knauss
Matthew Knauss began his legal career as a prosecutor, gaining invaluable experience in criminal law and the workings of the justice system. During law school, he interned with the Bothell City Attorney’s Office. After passing the bar, he continued there as lead counsel in multiple jury and bench trials before becoming an Associate Prosecuting Attorney for several cities in Snohomish County.
Matthew’s prosecutorial journey took him to the Moberly & Roberts law firm, where he served as lead prosecutor for the cities of Kirkland, Medina, and Clyde Hill. Over the years, he handled thousands of criminal matters and tried numerous cases, developing a deep understanding of criminal law and courtroom strategy.
Through his work, Matthew witnessed firsthand the challenges regular people face when navigating the justice system. Two pivotal lessons shaped his decision to focus on defense and protection order representation:
- Justice is not always blind.
- No one should walk into court without a skilled advocate by their side.
Matthew’s mission is clear: to protect individuals from harm and to empower them through expert legal representation. He finds immense satisfaction in standing up for clients against those who seek to intimidate or harm them.

Jeff Ostrove
Jeff Ostrove joined The Knauss Law Firm after serving as a Trial Deputy at the King County Prosecutor’s Office. There, he managed every aspect of a wide range of cases, including filing charges, negotiating settlements, writing motions, and conducting trials. This hands-on experience gave Jeff a comprehensive understanding of the courtroom and the justice system.
Jeff handled diverse cases such as DUI, assault, reckless driving, larceny, and no-contact violations. His time in the courtroom refined his skills in crafting strong arguments and thinking quickly under pressure.
His philosophy is simple: use his experience to understand what the prosecution wants and represent his clients to the maximum extent possible while keeping them involved and informed every step of the way. NO client of Jeff’s is ever surprised.
